Jonathan Hopson is proud to announce our first solo exhibition with Andy Coolquitt.
A new contradiction unveiled for the first time. The mise en scene has completely shifted in this new series of works by Coolquitt. A technicolor stage spotlights jewels framed like surrealists masterworks. HOPSON SHOUSE seduces and suspends belief.
Andy Coolquitt (b. 1964, Mesquite, TX) lives in works in Austin, Texas is oft recognized for a house, his performance/studio/domestic space that began as his master's thesis project at the University of Texas at Austin in 1994, and continues to the present day.
His career spans over two decades and includes exhibitions at Monique Meloche Gallery, Chicago; Artpace, San Antonio; Museum of Contemporary Art Houston, Houston; Lisa Cooley, New York; Galerie Krinzinger, Vienna; 21er Haus, Vienna; Blaffer Art Museum, Houston; James Cohan Gallery, New York; Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York; Galerie Kamm, Berlin; and Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco.
